Moving right along in our series, we’ll start to build the windows that we’ve previously taken a look at. In this video, we’ll be taking a look at the most complicated windows, the french doors. Because these need to physically move, we’ll need to model them accordingly.
‘modo’
Q&A: Gunmetal Finish in modo
Today we’ll look at a simple method for creating a relatively convincing gunmetal material, complete with semi-worn edges.
alpha masking on a glass sphere
Our good friend Andre asked how to map transparent graphics onto a glass object, so we thought we’d do a quick demo. This is an intermediate/advanced tutorial, beginners beware!
modo ArchViz Video 03: Muntins
Creating the muntins in a window is really easy once you know a few tricks! To make life easier for us, we’ll be installing one of my all-time favorite Python scripts from a modo-master and superuser named seneca, and assigning it a keyboard shortcut (i.e. ‘input mapping’ in modo parlance).
helical radial array in modo
In today’s 3D Kung Foo quick tip, we’ll be modeling a strand of DNA using the Radial Array tool in modo.
modo ArchViz Video 02: More Windows
We’ve been doing a little ArchViz in modo lately, and this week we’ll continue our interior project by adding some thickness to the floor, and creating a few more places to put doors and windows. Use those statistics to your advantage when modeling, they’re invaluable for mesh cleanup!
modo ArchViz Video 01: Modeling Windows
Greetings cadjunkies! A little archi-viz for you this week, kicking off a series on the same. Build a dimensionally-correct room, and throw in some dimensionally-correct windows. Should be fun!
SolidWorks Guitar Tutorial: Preview
Greetings from Boston! I’m here at the SW 2012 press release, gettin’ inspired, connected, and all that jazz. The production pipeline is officially back on line, baby! We’ve got new SolidWorks, modo, and Rhino vids on the way in the next week or two, but while I was doing some prep work for the upcoming SolidWorks series I decided to record a bit of Sketchbook Designer along the way. Have fun, more soon!
FastMax Video 07: Goodbye!
See ya’ on the flip side, suckers! :)
FastMax Video 06: Add the Stickers
“cicada” is one of my favorite words, mostly because of the way it is spelled.
FastMax Video 05: Render Setup
If at first you don’t succeed, start over. Often I find it’s easier to re-build a model from scratch than to try to repair or modify an existing model. It can be frustrating, but often times the rebuild will be faster, more efficient, and better quality than the first time around. Be brave!
FastMax p.2 Overview & Resources
Now that we’ve imported CAD data, we’ll dig a little deeper into the power of the Shader Tree.
