Summary:
Since we’ve been spending a lot of time in the modo shader tree lately, today’s cadjunkie quickie is going to take a more advanced look at the real power of modo’s layered approach to material shading. As you’ve no doubt noticed, we’ll be building a moutainscape, but believe it or not the entire scene you see rendered in the final image is comprised of one single solitary polygon, with one, single, layered material applied to it. That’s right, this entire image was created using one poly and the power of the Shader Tree. Lets get started.

Hi Adam, new member here. Watched your Sunglasses videos the other week which was a delight and I’m glad I stumbled across this site of yours also. Can’t wait to dive into this tutorial and the other ones you have currently. I’m greedy for all things Modo at the moment. Keep it up :)
Hi Andrew, welcome! Thanks for the encouragement, and don’t hesitate to ask if you need anything.
Thanks for supporting cadjunkie!
Adam
Nice tutorial Adam, my mountain looks fantastic although I’m very confused about a lot of the shader tree settings in general. For a beginner they can be hugely overwhelming!
Are there any tutorials out there that describe the basics of each and every little setting, how they can interact with other settings and when to use them? It’s great to watch a quick tutorial like this one but I’d like to learn some more about the tools. I’d happily sit there for hours learning about input parameters :)
Will check out your other vids soon, I see you have some basic ones there also
Hi Andrew! Yes, as I said in the video, this is a pretty advanced tutorial intended for more experienced users. I’m glad you were able to get through it! You may want to check out these:

And then do the “coffee shop” tutorial. These cover the basics of the sharer tree in much more detail.

Good work. It’s good to see you back at it.
Haha, did I stop? I hadn’t realized! :)
